Infirmary

Leeds General Infirmary on Great George Street, a Grade I listed building, was opened by the Prince of Wales on 19 May 1868. Sir Gilbert Scott’s building replaced the original Infirmary on Infirmary Street.

The main entrance faces Great George Street just off the picture on the bottom left. The road was built as the town expanded westwards.  St George’s Church, again just off the picture to the left,  was consecrated in 1838. To the left is Park Street and to the right Oxford Row.
