Notes:

The maps are indexed by date, storage method (flat, rolled, folded or boxed) and subject matter.

Abbreviations:

[] = editorial additions and comments                    [CON 2008/9] = conserved + date
engrav. = engraver
illust. = contains significant illustration
lithog. = lithographer
photoc. = photocopy
photog. = photograph
publ. = publisher
repro. = printed reproduction
surv. = surveyor
tp = turnpike

Key to letter-codes:
A letter before the date indicates the type/location of plans/maps. [All are located in the Society’s Archive Room.]
   Maps in flat melinex wallets have no prefixed letter [located in date order on the open metal shelf unit].
   W = maps in flat wallets which are undated. [On the bottom shelf of the metal unit].
   B = small flat walleted plans/maps [in taped bundle on top of main collection of flat maps]  See also list of boxed maps.
  R = Rolled - plans/maps in cylindrical containers [on top of metal shelves]
   F = Folded - plans/maps folded in covers, slip-cases, individual cases [on wooden shelves on far side of Archive room].
   T = Tithe map [in box on wooden shelf on far side of Archive Room].

Dating:

The date given as the reference number has been provided by the plan/map itself.
If a date has been inferred from a source other than one which is integral to the map or plan itself, the source is indicated in square brackets in the course of the entry.
If the date is derived from Bonser and Nichols, Thoresby Society 47 (1960), their number is given in square brackets, e.g. [B&N 168]; if from Harold Whitaker, A Descriptive List of the Printed Maps of Yorkshire and its Ridings, 1577-1900, YAS Record Series 86 (1933), his reference number is given in square brackets, e.g. [Wh 690].
