The Headrow
Opened in 1929 the new Headrow was twice the width of the old Upper Headrow and Lower Headrow. It was originally intended to name the new thoroughfare Kingsway. This photograph was taken in May 1933 when the Four Musketeers were performing live on stage at the Paramount Cinema. Lewis’s department store opened in 1932.
